What’s on Your Soundtrack?

One of my Facebook friends did this, and it tickled me, so I figured I’d pass on the good cheer. Give it a try.

Rules:
Step 1: Put your MP3 player/iTunes or whatever on random.
Step 2: Post the first line from the first 20 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.

Here are mine, from the trip home from work tonight. I’m still learning the ropes with my new MP3 player (an 8 gb Insignia Pilot from Best Buy), so I omitted the three audiobook chapters that got mixed in with my music, an instrumental, and four songs that contained the title in the first line.

1. Everyone gather round now, sing us a song, just in case by tomorrow it happens he’s gone.
2. I will remember you. Will you remember me?
3. Oh, my love, my darling, I hunger for your touch. Are you still mine?
4. Stars shining bright above you. Night breezes seem to whisper “I love you.”
5. If I have weaknesses, don’t let them blind me or camouflage all I am wary of.
6. I feel good, yeah, I feel fine. I’ve stopped complainin’ all the time.
7. Over the mountain, down in the valley, lives a former talk-show host.
8. When this old world starts getting me down and people are just too much for me to face.
9. I have never felt like this. For once, I’m lost for words.  Your smile has really thrown me.
10. It was the morning of October 6th, 1960. I was wearing my brown suit preparing to leave the house of D.
11. She’s a rich girl, and she ain’t gonna hide it.
12. A long time ago, yeah. Before you was born, dude. When I was still single, and life was great…
13. A stick, a stone. It’s the end of the road.
14. Joseph’s face was black as night, and the pale yellow moon shone in his eyes.
15. Who can turn the world on with her smile?
16. Victor was born the spring of ’44 and never saw his father anymore.
17. It’s comin’ on Christmas, they’re cuttin’ down trees.
18. What do I gotta do to make you love me?
19. Some folks like to get away, take a holiday from the neighborhood.
20. Blue jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band.

  1. I know the first one: “Stephen’s Last Night in Town”!
As well as #15 — theme from the Mary Tyler Moore Show. If you’ve never heard Husker Du cover that, I highly recommend tracking it down. WNUR used to play it!

  2. Correct on both, though #15 was a different version. Don’t have the player with me right now, and don’t remember who it was.
