Not Just for Comic Books Anymore

I was sitting in the drama room at the high school last Saturday during our set build, eating pizza with a bunch of drama parents and students. Someone, asked what super power everyone would want to have if they could choose one. It was just an idle question, a creative kid filling a conversational lull with a question that could be answered by any of the three generations present. Because just about everyone, at some point or another, has dreamed about what kind of hero they’d be.

Well, there’s a group of people out there who, while they may not have super powers, has not let that stop them from doing good. In brightly colored costumes. There are between 150 and 200 in the United States (and another half a hundred elsewhere in the world) who dress up in costumes to fight crime, or poverty, or just bring a smile to people’s faces. There’s a great article here that discusses a few of them.

And if you think you’d like to join them, you can get your battle togs at Hero Gear.

(By the way, I’d want a Green Lantern power ring.  I’m just sayin’.)
